"My initial encounter"
This was my initial encounter. My pup got diagnosed with Alopecia. We had the hereditary insurance. They turned down my claim, claiming it was a pre-existing issue. Never covered a thing. I chatted with the customer service rep. I asked, so you folks do whatever you can to avoid paying claims?? He replied, Yes sir!

I’m just getting into the pet insurance scene, but I realized it was crucial for my little Frenchie to have coverage. Sydney has been super helpful multiple times, answering my queries, guiding me through the website, and just being an all-around nice person. This kind of support really builds trust and will surely keep us with AKC Pet Insurance.

"Disappointing Experience with AKC Insurance"
We're really not satisfied. An email came through offering a free office visit for a wellness check. Unfortunately, our claim got turned down, even though we visited one of the top vets nearby. Honestly, this feels like poor business practice and is quite misleading. I wouldn't put my trust in them!

I just finished a call with Ashley, and let me tell ya, she was super helpful in making me feel at ease with a tailored policy that fits my budget for my 7-year-old Basset Hound. I ended up going with the Exam Plus and the Congenital/Hereditary add-ons. It's really crucial to know what you're signing up for instead of just clicking through online without a chat. I'm pretty convinced that would clear up some of the negative reviews I’ve come across. Now, I have a much clearer picture of my coverage and feel way more confident about my purchase. "AKC Pet Insurance reimbursed me more than $40,000..."
AKC Pet Insurance took care of over $40,000 in costs for my Lab, Ben, who underwent bilateral TPLO surgeries six months apart and went through two years of physical therapy. They covered every single treatment and therapy without any hassle. I thought my premiums would skyrocket, but over the six years, it only went from $85 a month to $103. Considering how much they reimbursed, that was way less than I anticipated.

"Terminated My Insurance Today"
I’ve just canceled my insurance today. I initially chose AKC pet insurance because of their reputation, thinking they’d deliver on their promises. But, like many others have mentioned, good luck with getting any reimbursements for claims. I put in a claim for about $350, and it got denied. They told me I’d have to switch to a hereditary policy. It’s just a load of nonsense and feels like another way to squeeze more money from policyholders. Nobody mentioned this when I signed up, and I wasn’t even given the choice. Go figure!

"Just ended my policy with AKC pet insurance"
I've held a policy with AKC pet insurance for six years now. A few months back, I put in my very first claim. The reimbursement was about 450 bucks. Suddenly, my premium shot up from 79 dollars a month to 101 dollars a month. I was ready for a small hike, but not a whopping 22%. If it had been a huge claim, I could understand, but it really wasn’t.

"LET DOWN BY AKC, expected way more!"
I bought a Platinum package from AKC that was supposed to come with 30 days of pet insurance. When I got home, I registered my pup and tried to set up the insurance, only to discover they don’t cover Canadians anymore. Now I’m left with a $2000 vet bill. If I had known, the breeder would’ve put me on her insurance for those first 30 days. All I got was a simple "Sorry," but they still took my money and claimed the insurance was part of the deal.

"Terrible service and refund process"
Absolutely terrible service and refund process! This has been the worst experience I've ever had. Seriously, steer clear of AKC insurance. After four years of paying premiums, I only got one claim approved, and it was a pitiful $21.80 back. Total waste of both time and cash.

Having gone through all the feedback here, I've got a question. The denial of claims occurred because of injuries linked to preexisting conditions. Yet, your site states you’re 'the only insurance plan that covers preexisting conditions?' That seems a bit fishy!

"This insurance feels like a total scam..."
This insurance feels like a total scam I've ever dealt with. I've been shelling out cash every month for nearly a year and put in 4 claims from my Vet, only to see each one shot down right away! All claims were 'supposed' to be covered, yet not a single one got reimbursed. It's a total and utter waste of close to $1,000.00, just gone. Don't fall into the same trap I did. It's a complete bait and switch!

"Breeder Coverage with AKC Insurance"
I got myself an AKC insurance plan that included the optional Breeder Coverage Endorsement. I thought it would be a safety net if I ever needed it. Turns out, they just take your cash and don’t even bother to review the claims, denying them instantly. I had to reach out to them, and after a lengthy chat with one of their agents, she sent me an appeal form that I needed to fill out along with my vet's records, which I did. A few days later, I got a new explanation of benefits showing a denial code D13 - Fees for diagnosing or treating any issues related to breeding, pregnancy, whelping, and nursing, unless you opt for the extra Breeder Coverage Endorsement. Seriously?? I was shelling out extra bucks every month for that coverage... I called them up again, and they told me they’d send a new letter with a different denial code and then just hung up on me. What a terrible insurance company!
